February 24th, 2011: Catching Up in Ketchum

The quickest path from Yosemite to Missoula, Montana happens to pass through Ketchum, Idaho. I was treated to quite an entertaining weekend when I visited Ketchum last year so I was excited to have it as a "rest day" before I got to Missoula.

I did a quick solo lap on the slopes of Sun Valley in the morning and met Brad for an afternoon lap on Durance, rising high above Ketchum. Sadly, Naomi had to work.

Our pit showed a nasty crust layer beneath some wind-deposited powder, but it was plenty thick for our comfort. The descent proved to be even deeper and softer than hoped for!

"Durance South Bowl hooked it up with 2000 feet of sweet pow on the way out of Ketchum. What a day. On to Missoula."
